What is the Blackboard Innovative Teaching Series (BITS)?

The Blackboard Innovative Teaching Series (BITS) is a training initiative to help augment (not replace) your on-campus faculty training efforts. Harnessing our community of Blackboard users, BITS will share the top strategies and pedagogy for both increasing educator efficiency and improving learning outcomes. BITS is free to Blackboard’s higher education customers and is easy to promote and participate.

This program will consist of monthly faculty training webinars that will be taught by faculty from higher educational institutions and supported by Blackboard experts. View the BITS schedule.

How does my faculty participate?

It is important to note that Blackboard will not market or solicit anything from your faculty base. Our clients have made it clear in our listening activities that our help in promoting technology adoption is welcome, but Blackboard will not overstep its bounds with any overt marketing to your faculty.

In order to spread the message about BITS, we are planning to reach out to faculty directly via email communications. However, if you would like to have all BITS communications distributed by you to your faculty, copy the sample email we crafted, and send it to your team using your own email software. The email has the schedule and links to the webinars, and your users can join the sessions most meaningful to them.

You have the option of opting your institution out of receiving BITS invitations altogether; however, since BITS is a no-cost resource that can help support your faculty development needs, we do not recommend this route. If you would like to remove your institution from future BITS communications, select the opt-out option on the right.

We've crafted an email message you can copy and paste into your own email program and mail to your users.

Please let us know your plans to participate.
